Many occasions centre around drinking at bars or even in pub gardens during the warmer months. This can be challenging for those of us who don’t drink or who prefer to sip on non-alcoholic beverages. If there isn’t a decent No & Low menu to choose from, our choices for what to drink can begin to become repetitive, leaving us bored with a lot of our regular choices. Well, no more! In 2022, we are ordering tasty and interesting serves, which will leave us hangover-free and ready to take on the next day.
An Alcohol-Free Mojito
There is nothing quite like ordering a classic at the bar. However, if you aren’t drinking alcohol, then you may have to get a little more creative when it comes to cocktails. Never fear though, we’ve got all your favourites, but with a non-alcoholic twist. For example, an alcohol-free Mojito should be on all bar’s menus. Typically, a mojito is a cocktail which consists of five main ingredients, white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water and of course, garnished with mint. As for tasting notes, you can expect citrus notes from a serve such as this, in combination with herbaceous and mint flavours.
- 25ml Lime Juice
- 125ml REAL Dry Dragon
- 10ml sugar syrup (or 10ml mint syrup, if available)
- Fresh mint leaves
- Ice Cubes
It’s as simple as that! Most bars should have kombucha in stocks, so when requesting this classic, just ask to have the rum replaced with your kombucha of choice (we recommend REAL of course!)
The Power of the Wine Glass
Never underestimate the power of a wine glass. REAL kombucha is a really sophisticated wine alternative, which gives you all the more reason to order it in an appropriate style of glass and savour it at your favourite bar. We recommend serving it directly from the fridge, so that it’s chilled and then poured straight into a glass – the fancier, the better!
For instance, REAL Dry Dragon can be described as a Sauvignon Blanc substitute, with citrus notes of grapefruit, sweet lemons and brewed from a Chinese pan-fried, Dragonwell green tea. Not to mention, if you want to avoid feeling sluggish in the morning, rather than indulging in a few too many glasses of wine, low in sugar and calories, kombucha is a much healthier option and allows you to skip the hangover no matter how much you drink.
A Prosecco-less Party
As well as wine, kombucha can make a great prosecco alternative. So, instead of bringing a bottle of prosecco to your next party, why not take a bottle of kombucha along? REAL’s award-winning non-alcoholic alternatives are made from loose-leaf teas from small tea gardens in both China and India. These are naturally fermented which in turn, produces a sophisticated sparkling beverage. Full of flavour and fruity top notes akin to most drinks such as prosecco minus the hangover the next day.
Along with bringing a bottle of kombucha, you can also make some amazing processo-less serves, the most classic one being a Bellini. Typically, this classic cocktail such as this is served in an elegant flute. With a simple combination of peach purée and prosecco, this drink is easy to change to a non-alcoholic beverage at any bar, by simply swapping out the alcohol for kombucha.
